Crown Hotel @ Kings Beach Lake Tahoe

Crown Hotel @ Kings Beach Lake Tahoe

Every once in a while you find a jewel where you least expect it.

The wife and I recently attended a wedding at Kings Beach North Lake Tahoe. We stayed at a great Hotel that was exactly what Aviation Vacation was meant to promote. The Crown Hotel is locally owned and offers vintage charm with modern conveniences.

There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about pulling into The Crown Hotel in Kings Beach, the kind of place that instantly reminds you why Lake Tahoe has been a beloved escape for generations. Tucked right along the shoreline, the hotel feels less like a formal resort and more like a lakeside hideaway where time slows down and the water becomes the center of your day.

Mornings here are magic. I’d step outside with a cup of coffee and wander down to the hotel’s private sandy beach, where the lake is so still it looks like glass. Paddleboarders drift by, kids build sandcastles, and the mountains glow pink as the sun climbs. It’s the kind of peaceful moment you want to bottle up and take home.

The rooms themselves are simple, clean, and charming in that classic Tahoe way, think cozy beds, warm wood touches, and just enough modern comfort to make you feel taken care of without losing the rustic vibe. Some rooms even come with kitchenettes, which is perfect if you like slow mornings or cooking your own meals after a day of exploring.

What really stands out, though, is the family‑run warmth. The staff greet you like an old friend, offer local tips, and genuinely seem to love sharing their slice of Tahoe with visitors.

If you’re looking for luxury, this isn’t that. But if you want sunsets on the sand, mountain air, and a front‑row seat to the lake, the Crown Hotel delivers the kind of Tahoe experience that lingers long after you’ve checked out.

Private Beach and plenty of decks and areas to congregate with groups or to find the solitude for those romantic nights sitting around a fire pit with your favorite glass of wine.

The Tree House Café provides a great breakfast and is only a few steps away from the hotel

We only stayed for 2 nights but found the stay extremely relaxing and enjoyable.  Check out our destinations page to book a stay and explore the area!
